Imported from Japan, Akadama Seiki is a clay substrate of volcanic origin. It is a high quality product because it is dried at a high temperature immediately after extraction, from where it is sieved and separated into different grain sizes.
Akadama is made up of hard particles that help retain water and nutrients to be slowly released into the roots of the Bonsai. Its porous structure allows water to pass through easily, which favours drainage and ensures a well-aerated soil, ideal for the healthy development of fine roots.
Its neutral pH and high cation exchange capacity improve plant health, helping with nutrient absorption and immunity. Akadama can be mixed with other substrates and is especially recommended for small and medium-sized pots.
Applied and tested for centuries, it is the perfect substrate for Bonsai.
